3 Core Rules for Solving Cube Nets
Essential spatial reasoning methods to fold 2D nets into 3D shapes quickly and accurately.
Rule 1: The 1-in-Between Rule (Opposite Faces)
In any straight row or column of squares, faces that have exactly one square between them are always opposite each other when folded. Opposite faces can never touch or appear together on the same visible 3D cube view!
Rule 2: The Z-Rule for Staggered Wings
When squares are arranged in a staggered 'Z' shape, the two outer squares at opposite ends fold over to become opposite faces.
Rule 3: Corner Touching & Pattern Alignment
Edges that meet at a 90° interior angle fold together to share an edge in 3D. Always check the orientation of lines, arrows, and diagonal shading to ensure they point in the correct direction when folded.
