Fraction Types
A proper fraction has a numerator smaller than the denominator. It is less than 1.
An improper fraction has a numerator larger than or equal to the denominator. It represents 1 or more wholes.
A mixed number combines a whole number with a proper fraction. (e.g. 3 wholes and a half).
How to convert between Improper and Mixed fractions:

Fraction Operations
To find a fraction of an amount: Divide by the bottom, multiply by the top.
40 ÷ 5 = 8. Then 8 × 3 = 24.
You must find a Common Denominator before adding or subtracting.
Multiplication: Multiply the tops, multiply the bottoms.
Division (KFC): Keep the first, Flip the second, Change ÷ to ×.
