Techniques and Exam Habits

Key rules and methods to solve Pair of Alphabets quickly and accurately.

Rule 1: Treat the first and second letters as two independent series

Trace the pattern of the first letters across all pairs (e.g. A → C → E = +2). Then independently solve the sequence of second letters (e.g. Z → X → V = −2).

Rule 2: Note the step size and direction (+ or −)

Carefully count the letter gaps using the alphabet strip provided on screen. Watch for constant gaps vs accelerating steps (+1, +2, +3, +4).

Example: AZ, CX, EV, GT, ( ? )
1st letters: A (+2) → C (+2) → E (+2) → G (+2) → I
2nd letters: Z (−2) → X (−2) → V (−2) → T (−2) → R
Answer: IR.
